British Wildlife Photo Days 2018

british wildlife centre

British wildlife in the late afternoon sun

We are hosting four one day photographic workshops in June 2018 at the British Wildlife Centre in Surrey, England.

Our photo days are held jointly by myself and Richard Peters so for each photo day you have the privilege of two full time wildlife photographers to guide you. We are continuing with the success we have enjoyed there since 2013.

The British Wildlife Centre
The British Wildlife Centre is host to the finest collection of native wildlife in Britain with over forty different native species from tiny harvest mice to magnificent red deer. Our special photographic days are held when they are closed to the public, so they offer photographers an opportunity to get really close to the animals. The day is aimed at amateurs to advanced amateurs whether or not you have been using a camera for weeks or years.

Is this day for you?

All Photographers Are Welcome
Photographers of all levels are welcome. Our tour leaders are professional photographers with great experience in the field as well as in guiding and photographic instruction. Each day offers a small client-leader ratio that allows for personal attention and customized guidance on photography.

Full-time Wildlife Photographers as Your Guides
We are a small team of award winning wildlife photographers and experienced photography tutors in the field of natural history. We have won awards in Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Nature’s Best and GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and our work is published regularly. Our photographic experience extends back to the days of film, paper and manual focus cameras.

Creative Photography
We pride ourselves on the highest level of creative wildlife photography. We’ll show you creative techniques to set your pictures apart from the rest. In addition to these we will also cover traditional techniques like portraiture, action, focusing and composition.

British Wildlife Photo Day highlights

Photography from inside the enclosures
A combination of good vantage points, natural surroundings and a peaceful environment gives you every opportunity to get that perfect wildlife shot, including access inside some of the large enclosures, including the foxes, otters and Scottish wildcats. The enclosures are so designed to replicate the most natural setting for the animals which is ideal for photography.

Photographing at sunset for the best available light
We have arranged with the British Wildlife Centre to allow you to photograph during the time of the day which offers by far the best light, the hour or two before the sun sets.

One to one guidance and tuition
The small group size enables each participant plenty of time for personal guidance and tuition. We will discuss and offer guidance for camera settings, exposure, histograms, focal lengths and the best options for use on the day. We can also offer advice on the best equipment to bring on the day beforehand.

On site camera and lens hire
We are offering camera and lens hire for Canon and Nikon on the day for £50 per item. Lenses are 300mm 2.8 for both mounts. Numbers are limited so you may need to book and reserve these early.

Wildlife photography eBook
Included in the cost is a 24 page eBook about photographing wildlife tailored for the British Wildlife Centre. You will also receive detailed information about the day itself in advance which includes how to get there and what to being on the day.
