As Long As There Are Animals CE

£520.00

Less than 12 copies of this book remain for sale, thus the elevating cost of this edition as the last copies sell.

The deluxe edition is limited to 100 copies, signed and numbered, bound in cloth with a image inlaid on the front, all contained in a luxury matching clamshell portfolio box. The books’ dimensions are 320mm high, 300mm wide, and 24mm thick.

Each of the sixty photographs is presented on its own page, much in the same way a stand-alone fine art print deserves. There is little distraction of text in the main part of the book. It is a fine art book designed to display photographs to their maximum potential using the best paper and materials available.

It is printed by EBS Press in Verona, Italy, printers of many renowned fine art photographic books including Sebastião Salgado’s magnificent Genesis.

The book contains a foreword by Virginia McKenna of Born Free fame, and an introductory essay by Keith Wilson, as well as words by me. Numbers are limited and the cost is now rising per volume as they sell.

From the book’s foreword, by Virginia McKenna, OBE
Founder and Trustee, Born Free Foundation:

This extraordinary collection of photographs is so precious and important. I am completely captivated by David Lloyd’s focus on detail. An eye, an ear, the texture of skin, a moment of tenderness, a sense of togetherness, a sense of loneliness. The vast blue sky with the huge and vulnerable rhinoceros spearing it with his horn, the leopard in the tangled forest, the elephants, whose loving and loyal family life we would do well to emulate.

Too often lions are portrayed as aggressive hunters, snarling predators. In this book you see beyond that and, to me, it shows the sensitivity and understanding of the photographer. Here we are drawn into a deeper understanding of their nature in a very touching way, and I am very grateful for that.
