Lovestruck

from £600.00

Maasai Mara Kenya 2010
An edition of 75 in all sizes

Once there was a coalition of five lions in Kenya's Maasai Mara called the Notch Boys, Notch himself and his four sons, Caesar, Ron, Notch II and Grimace. This is a young Grimace – the most easily recognisable of the five with a paler complexion and his then rugged dishevelled appearance.

A lion honeymoon lasts around a week or so and this picture was taken during its early stages given they both showed much interest in each other. (As the week progresses, things slow down a little.) During one particular circle of activity, she upped and circled around to win his affection. As she passed, his expression was caught isolated in sharp focus, his lovestruck look giving this picture its title.
