Discover an array of Indian wildlife on a guided photo safari

An Indian rhino in his natural habitat

If you’ve ever dreamed of photographing some of the world’s most incredible wildlife, India is the place to go.

I’m leading a 16-day photography tour in April 2025 through three of India’s best national parks — Kaziranga, Pench, and Bandhavgarh. Join me and you’ll get the opportunity to see and photograph an array of iconic and rare Indian wildlife species in their natural habitats.

What makes India’s wildlife so special?

The wild animals in India are unique and captivating. From Bengal tigers and leopards to Indian elephants, rhinos, and rare creatures like the dhole, every day on safari in India brings something new. An array of birds also enhance any trip to India — I often see great Indian hornbills, peacocks in full display, and countless others.

April is an ideal time to visit India. The dry season makes wildlife easier to spot, the waterholes attract animals, and the light is perfect for photography.

Indian National Wildlife Parks and their wildlife

Kaziranga National Park

This UNESCO World Heritage site is a photographer’s dream. Kaziranga is a rich, thriving ecosystem that comes alive during early morning and late afternoon drives. Expect to see rhinos and elephants, birds, monkeys and reptiles.

Pench National Park

The inspiration behind The Jungle Book, Pench is a magical place. Tigers, leopards, and wild dogs are just some of the Indian wildlife species that can be seen here.

Bandhavgarh National Park

This park is all about tigers, and its high density of big cats means we’re almost guaranteed a sighting. Beyond the tigers though, Bandhavgarh’s mix of forest and grassland is home to monkeys and birds.

What Indian wildlife can you expect to see?

Bengal Tigers

India is synonymous with the Bengal tiger, and Bandhavgarh is one of the best places in the world to see and photograph these magnificent big cats. In April, the dry season increases our chances of regular sightings.

Indian One-Horned Rhinoceros

Kaziranga National Park is home to the world’s largest population of Indian rhinos. Seeing a rhino roaming through the grasslands or cooling off near the Brahmaputra River is a moment you won’t forget.

Elephants

These gentle giants are icons of India. Often spotted lumbering through the forests of Kaziranga or grazing in family herds, Indian elephants are always a delight to capture on camera.

Monkeys and Primates

India’s forests are packed with langurs and rhesus macaques. Their playful antics and curious stares make for brilliant wildlife portraits. In Kaziranga, we may even glimpse the elusive Hoolock gibbon, India’s only ape species.

Wild Dogs (Dhole)

Although not as appealing as the big cats, Indian wild dogs can also be found in number. Fast, agile, and highly social, they are exciting to observe. Pench National Park gives us some of the best chances to spot them in packs.

Rare and Beautiful Birds

India is a birdwatcher’s paradise. The great Indian hornbill, kingfishers, and vibrant peacocks are among the many birds we will likely see in April. Did you know that more than 400 bird species call Kaziranga home?

Deer, Antelope, and Grazers

We’ll also likely encounter herds of spotted deer, nilgai antelope, and the sambar deer — key prey for India’s big cats. Wild cattle including wild boar, water buffalo, and others mean there’s no shortage of Indian wildlife to observe and photograph.
